Baking soda and vinegar works also.

Other than that, two more I can think of:

Lavender essential oil will reduce the stinging, but it won't 'cure' the bite as far as I know.

The other one is aloe vera. You should always have an aloe vera plant in the house, it has so many uses. Maybe someone wants to list them some time.

This is a cheap and very effective way to deal with insect bites.  
Put a little epsom salt on a dish, poor a little hydrogen peroxide on it, mix it to turn it into a bit of a paste, and apply it to the insect bite.
It works like a charm.

Another way, this is what my grandma used, but you can only do it when you have dandelions handy :)
Just pick a dandelion., cut the stem open, and use the juice from inside the stem.
It is a good remedy to eliminate the itch and the burning feeling.
