I agree. It would be completely against nature. They would simply starve. They could be put in an induced coma but who would take care of them?

Be healthy, happy, and safe!

Thanks for stopping in, both of you :)

Someone told me today that they are studying bears very closely to see if they can simulate hibernation in people for when they go to Mars. They would eat less and have less waste. I doubt that it will work though.
I don't think it will work either only because everyone would have to gain an enormous amount of weight and need to move their limbs.
Just saying!

I hope everyone enjoyed their Christmas meal.
I'm just have a fairly lazy day today (Boxing Day). Though I did cook a ham - boiling in Coca Cola first and then roasting with honey and orange.

That was interesting what you said, page4, about them looking at bear's hibernation to see if it would work with astronauts going to Mars. They say a journey to Mars would take 7 to 9 months, with a full trip including staying on Mars for the planets to realign for the return journey would be 2-3 years . They would have to be alert for much of the trip (have you watched the Netflix drama "Away") but maybe to super relax/sleep for part of it would make the journey seem shorter.

I must admit, every winter I feel like curling up and hibernating, though in Southern England it's not usually all that cold - maybe down to -5 C at night and hovering around 0 C during the coldest days, but often day time temps are +5 C to +8 C

Merry Christmas to you and a Very Happy and Healthy New Year!  Please be safe if you are going out on "Amateur Night."

Beekind:  I understand bears now more than ever. I just want to go back to bed and lay on my heating pad because it is sooooo cold now.

Wishing everyone a very Happy Christmas and New Year!

I guess the bears are snug asleep hibernating again.
