Is it possible to grow vegetables entirely in the shade?

If you want to grow some vegetables but don't have access to a sunny spot. It is possible to grow only a few vegetables. The only ones that will work are leafy vegetables. They won't be as complete and strong as those exposed to sunlight, but you'll still have something to eat.
Root crops and leafy vegetables can thrive in shade houses. Here is a list of vegetables that are ideal for growing in shade houses.
  • Lettuce
  • Leeks
  • Cabbage
  • Asparagus
  • Beans
  • Broccoli
  • Brussels sprouts
  • Herbs
  • Cauliflower
  • Cucumbers

    Use good soil
    Moisture requirement
    Watch for pests
    Maturation time

    Interesting! I've noticed that vegetables do considerably better with more sun, but when it's really hot, they do prefer shade.
    The more sun they have, the faster they will grow (given they get enough rain of course)
    Some things like tomatoes, peppers, eggplant... one would not get away with full shade and no sun I think.
