For years, I tried to grow lavender from seed but the seeds never germinated.
Eventually, I looked at the instructions, lol. I should have looked sooner!
The seeds take about 6 weeks to germinate.
I usually toss my pots when they have been planted for 4 weeks and nothing germinated.

This past season, I finally had some lavender that germinated. I have 6 plants and I'm so happy!
The plants start to grow extremely slowly, but the bigger they get the faster they grow.

The plants were maybe an inch tall after 4 weeks. By the end of the season, hey were fully grown with lovely smelling flowers.
They made it through the first few frosts by the end of the season.

I's wintertime now. I can't wait to see what they will look like next year.

Mine don't always come back after the winter.
They'll be fine for a few years, and they hey disappear.
I haven't been able to find a pattern, like extreme cold with little snow, late spring, early frost.. no idea.

Update: I planted my lavender today, February 8th.
Here's to hoping for the best.
I used two different packages of seeds. Forgot to mention that the seeds are tiny, about the size of lettuce seeds.

I have two lavender plants. I plan on bringing one in for the winter just to make my room smell nice.
I don't know if that's a good idea or not but I'll find out soon enough and if something goes wrong, I'll still have one left.

I am planning on experimenting this next season with different kinds of lavender.
My lavender plants look okay but they're nowhere near the lavender plants I've seen in the fields in the south of France. Perhaps they are a different kind.
Mine are usually just nice smelling small shrubs with some lavender shoots here and there.

The lavender plant I took in for the winter is still doing very well, I'm happy!
I bought more seeds yesterday to start some extra plants.

Only half of my lavender came back after the winter. Pity!
I planted more bit only one seed germinated. In my experience, it's very difficult to germinate the lavender seeds and it takes forever.
