When you buy chickens, you expect to get eggs 12 months out of the year but this is actually not the case.
If you want your chickens to lay eggs in wintertime, you need to make some efforts and adjustments.
It is their nature to not lay eggs during the cold months.

The fact that they don't lay eggs in winter can have several causes such as less hours of daylight, colder temps, and less food if they are free range and you don't give them enough chicken feed.
All of these things can cause their egg production to slow down.

That said, there are some things you can do to ensure that your chickens will continue to give you eggs in wintertime.

They won't eat in the dark and the days are short in wintertime, so make sure you have a light in your coop.
Also, feed them well, give them treats, etc..
I usually give them layer mash, which is a chicken feed that stimulates egg production. I only give it to them in wintertime.
You should also consider providing your chickens with a heated coop. This can help keep them warm and comfortable, which can make them more likely to lay eggs.

Heated coop helps too, and access to warm-ish water and food.
I used to mix my layer mash with warm water and they loved it.
